Il Museo del Risorgimento si trova all'interno del Castello di Brescia nei vasti ambienti del Grande Miglio, massiccio edificio cinquecentesco costruito dal governo veneto come deposito di granaglie.
Fondato nel 1887 ed allestito in questa sede nel 1959, il museo presenta numerosi dipinti, centinaia di stampe e proclami, divise militari, manoscritti e cimeli, che rievocano le vicende storiche dalla rivoluzione francese alla presa di Roma. La partecipazione di Brescia agli avvenimenti risorgimentali assume un particolare rilievo. La Repubblica Bresciana del 1797, le dieci giornate insurrezionali del 1849 e la seconda guerra d'indipendenza con le decisive battaglie di San Martino e Solferino, sono ampiamente trattate in termini iconografici e documentari. Un intero settore è dedicato alle imprese garibaldine e alla terza guerra d'indipendenza, come la precedente combattuta anche in territorio bresciano. Oltre ad un cospicuo fondo archivistico, il museo conserva onorificenze, diplomi e fotografie dello statista Giuseppe Zanardelli.

The Museum of Risorgimento is housed in the Castle of Brescia, in the large rooms of the Great Miglio, a massive 16th century building wanted by the Venetian Government as a storehouse of the grains.
Founded in 1887 and inaugurated in its current layout in 1959, the museum exhibits numerous paintings, hundred of prints and proclamations, military uniforms, manuscripts and relics that recall historic events of the French Revolution at the capture of Rome. The participation of Brescia in the Risorgimento episodes assumes particular emphasis.
The Republic of Brescia of 1797, the Ten Days of insurrection in 1849 and second war of independence, with the decisive battles of Solferino and San Martino are fully explained in iconographic and documentary terms. An entire section is dedicated to the exploits of Garibaldi and to the third war of independence, fought in Brescian territory as well as the second one. Besides a considerable archives fund, the museum preserves honors, diplomas, photographs of the statesman Giuseppe Zanardelli.
